A New York disco-funk band called ESCORT released a music video for their new song “Outta My Head” . . . and it might look familiar to you, because it’s a shot-for-shot remake of Journey’s “Separate Ways” video.
So, they’re mimicking “Separate Ways”, but singing their song. And they went all out. They supposedly used the 3D view in Google Maps to “scout out the coastline for miles around us” to find the perfect location to do it.
The band says, quote, “We’re not trying to exaggerate it or mock it . . . all the amazing ’80s video tropes, the pure intensity of the performances and the bizarre air instrument gag make it so special.”
“Avengers: Endgame” is going to ROCK the box office . . . everyone knows that. The question is whether or not it’ll break the opening weekend record of $257.7 million that “Avengers: Infinity War” set last April.
And it sounds like it WILL, because it doesn’t hit theaters for two weeks, and it’s already breaking records.
“Endgame” has sold more advance tickets in its first week than “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, the previous record holder. And it’s outpacing “Infinity War”5-to-1.
And that’s after it sold more tickets in its first 24 hours than any movie in history.
According to Fandango, thousands of showtimes at theaters across the country have been sold out, so theaters are scheduling new showings at crazy times like between 4:00 A.M. and 7:00 A.M.
FA new milestone was reached on “Jeopardy!” last night, when contestant James Holzhauer SMASHED therecord for single-day win total.
James took home $110,914, which blew the previous record of $77,000 out of the water. That was done back in September of 2010 by Roger Craig.
James was already a three-day champion coming into yesterday’s episode . . . and now he’s made $244,365 during his four-day run. (He also had a shot at breaking the record last week, but it didn’t end up happening.)
He said was gunning for the record from the start. Quote, “I said all along that I wanted to break Roger Craig’s one-game record and I did it.”
There’s another really cool wrinkle to this story. The amount of the new record, $110,914, isn’t a random number. James intentionally ended on that amount to symbolize his daughter’s birthday: November 9th, 2014.
Remember how the 200-year-old oak tree from “The Shawshank Redemption” had to be cut down two years ago after being damaged in a storm? Well, now the WOOD from that tree is being turned into some high-end furniture.
Several tables are being made, and there’s already one potential buyer who’s a HUGE fan of the movie. He’s reportedly agreed to pay $65,000 for a big table, and has already dropped $24,000 on two other smaller ones from the same tree.
The centerpiece table includes stills from the movie . . . including shots of Andy and Red . . . and has an inscription that says, “Crafted from The Shawshank Oak Tree.”
